I am conviced that solutions for us can only be derived from Holy Scripture. And if we American Christians have confusion about the definition of “Holy Scripture,” we have a bigger problem; and, if we attempt this good work without at least referring to Holy Scripture, then we have yet another problem. Scripture is the Authority, faithfully preserved and even faithfully translated into English for us English-speaking people by God’s successful superintendence. Disturbing now is how many of us seem to be influenced by Mr. Author O. Confusion’s devices for promoting things to the less-than-holy contrary. Even the enemy knows the power of Holy Scripture, and he abuses it 100%, … but he always has to deal with it to get any of his emptiness done. Quoting in public is what Scripture is for (read Neh 8. ff.) — it is the power of God (I Cor 1:18). God is to this day still not ashamed of anything He wrote, and He’d repeaet any and all of it to anybody right now, and in public, and in the same manner to His English-speaking audience, and in another faithfully-translated manner to anybody of other languages (God does not want one word of changed without His express written authorization).

Christians have lost far more than just the “abortion” debate by a reluctance to quote Holy Scripture. Before “abortion” was Darwinism, humanism, removal of Christ from our self-gov’t., contraception, divorce, dating, sodomy, gambling, insurance, licensing, redistribution of earnings, withholding, borrowing, turning technology upon ourselves at the expense of liberty and privacy, making tax collectors out of every business person, etc.).

So here we find ourselves now having lost the debate over our self-government authorizing the murder of certain innocent people (and the number of murders is not important; even a single murder has been known to condemn very many people). What Christian under heaven wouldn’t at least want to be found grieving?

Scripture is what has been violated here by “we the people.” And “Thou shalt not kill” is still the best of all references on this subject (Rom 13:9; Matt 5:21; not to mention Exo 20:13, and Deu 5:17). But shouldn’t we start by telling God how sorry we really are for having lost the debate (obviously) in the past?

So what is the Scriptural solution if a self-government one day finds itself at cross-purposes with the Creator? Sorry, there’s no substitute for repentance. Anything else will have wound up helping Satan muddy the water even more. The Holy Scripture (the Authority) quotes Jesus (God) as saying, “The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.” (Matt 12:41) Are we comfortable with getting Nineveh’s condemnation? In Job 15:16, God says through Job that we are “… man, which drinketh iniquity like water,” so naturally our nation is not concerned enough about drinking condemnation, too. Does America even know there’s an offer from God right now to repent at the preaching of Jesus? American Christendom has been far too busy about other things.

Problem solved if “enough” of the “right” people were to someday agree that our self-government has been wrongly authorizing the murder of innocent American people. But we get stumped because we’re seemingly so few. What is the Scriptural solution if “not enough” of the “right” people agree on this? Well, first of all, one plus God is a majority–let’s not try to debate that.

Next, correction of American “Christendom” is in order. God said it first in 2 Chr 7:14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” God’s reference to “land” includes politics. He is also saying that Christians–yes, Christains–are being found with wicked ways. And He’s pretty clear about who needs to make sure they’re right first: 1 Pet 4:17-18: “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

The Holy Bible leaves no room for debate about whether God has been clear with us all, saved and lost alike (there’s only one standard for both). All of us need to prepare now for His sudden appearing. If He tarries at all, we who are prepared won’t be having so much trouble figuring out what to be doing with our time, meanwhile (like resisting evil and helping others do the same). Rom 1:18-32, excerpted: “For the wrath of God is revealed … so that they are without excuse: … Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”

Otherwise, am keeping my powder dry.
